“The sunroom is absolutely my favorite room in the house,” Robin said. “I come out here in the morning and have my coffee. It’s where I go to relax after a long day in the classroom. We have such a great view of the backyard, and at night, sometimes you can see the stars.”
Recent winter weather led to one of the sunroom windows being damaged. “At first I didn’t even realize anything had happened,” Robin said. “But then my husband said, Have you noticed how that window is really starting to fog up? There was all of a sudden a lot of condensation happening – I had to put a towel in the windowsill! That’s when we discovered the window had been damaged.”
Because sunroom windows are so large, Robin was concerned that it was going to be very expensive to have the window replaced. He had the Hanson replacement glass company come by the house to provide an estimate on the job. “Because the window frame itself wasn’t damaged, and it was just the glass that was compromised, they were able to fix the sunroom for much less money than I expected.”
Window glass replacement is often a more affordable option than a whole window replacement. This is especially true in situations where the glass in question is large, such as a sunroom window or a picture window. Another common scenario where glass replacement can be a smart option include bay windows where one section is broken but the rest is fine.
It is the status and condition of the window frame, more than the window glass, that determines if you can choose window glass replacement. If the frame is damaged, bent, twisted, split, or otherwise set up in such a way that a secure seal can no longer be achieved, window replacement becomes your only option.
